Governor Corbett’s February 5th Budget Address included an aggressive transportation plan to advance key recommendations from the 2011 Transportation Funding Advisory Commission Report. General Assembly follow-up legislative work continues in Harrisburg to advance a transportation funding action plan. At the federal level, Congressman Shuster’s Transportation Infrastructure Committee is already beginning discussion of the need to advance the next federal transportation legislation by the expiration of MAP-21 on September 30, 2014.
Our speaker, Mr. Chuck DiPietro, is Transportation Planning Director of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission (the regional planning agency for ten counties in southwestern Pennsylvania), and also Vice President of its administrative arm, the Southwestern Pennsylvania Corporation. From August 2000 to November 2001, Mr. DiPietro also served as Acting Executive Director of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission and Acting President and CEO of the Southwestern Pennsylvania Corporation.He is responsible for the administration of a $5.1 million annual work program for our ten-county Metropolitan Planning Organization.
